IT’S AN all-Thurlow Nunn Reserve League affair in this season’s Days Sports Suffolk Senor Reserve Cup Final.
Stowmarket Town, who are the holders, face Felixstowe & Walton United at Bloomfields, home of Needham Market FC, on Wednesday, kick-off 7.30pm.
Stowmarket, who beat Woodbridge Town 2-1 in last season’s final at Colchester United FC, will be bidding to become only the second side to retain the cup. Stowmarket players are pictured above celebrating after scoring during last season’s final.
The only side to previously successfully defend the cup are Lowestoft Town, who won it in 2009 and again in 2010.
No other team have managed to win the competition two years in a row since it was introduced in the 2006-07 season.
The Old Gold & blacks defeated fellow Thurlow Nunn Reserve League side Whitton United Reserves 2-0 in their semi-final to book their place in the final.
Their opponents Felixstowe & Walton United lifted the trophy in the competition’s inaugural season thanks to a 5-1 victory over Southwold Town.
The Seasiders, who won 3-1 against Haverhill Rovers in their last-four tie, have not appeared in the final since.
Admission to the final is £4 for adults and £2 for concessions which covers OAPS and children under-16s.
Pre-school children accompanied by an adult will be admitted for £1.
