Reserve sides reach cup quarter-finals
TWO Reserve teams are through to the quarter-finals of this season’s McDonald’s Suffolk Primary Cup.
AFC Kesgrave Reserves were 2-0 winners at home to Haverhill Town in Saturday’s second round, while Redgrave Rangers Reserves defeated Saxmundham Sports Reserves by the same scoreline. AFC Kesgrave Reserves (blue & red shirts) are pictured above in action against Haverhill Town (sky blue shirts).
The pair could yet be joined in the last eight by Hundon Reserves, whose match with Ipswich Exiles was postponed.
Two other Reserves teams bowed out – Kesgrave Kestrels Reserves lost 3-1 at Oulton United and Thurlow Reserves went down 2-1 at Laxfield.
There were also home wins for Laxfield (2-1 versus Thurlow Reserves) and Samuels (4-2 versus Kirton Athletic Development) in Saturday’s other two ties.
The draw for the quarter-finals will be held later this week.
Two more teams are through to the last eight of this season’s Veo Suffolk U18 Midweek Cup.
Holders Haverhill Rovers were 3-1 winners at Stowmarket Town on Thursday night, while Hadleigh United went through by the same scoreline on penalties following a 3-3 draw at Cornard United on the same night.
The three remaining second-round ties are scheduled for this week – one each on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
