Ollie leads on new community project
A NEW facility which will host football is due to complete in May 2025.
The Murrayside Community Centre project in Ipswich has been overseen by Ollie Langner, who is a Trainee Architectural Assistant with Concertus as well as Youth Trustee on the Suffolk FA Board.
The steel frame on the two-storey community centre project has recently been completed.
The sports complex will create a vibrant space for local youth, featuring a dance studio, gym, and a fully equipped boxing area, expanding opportunities for young people in the community.
The Premier League Kicks programme, funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund, will run weekly sessions at the new facility.
Aimed at youth aged 8 to 18 who are at risk of anti-social behaviour, youth violence, or from high-need areas, these sessions will focus on sports, mentoring and personal growth.
Ipswich Town FC, along with local boxer Fabio Wardley, will lead the programme, creating an inclusive and supportive environment for young people.
This is Ollie’s first project leadership role, and with guidance from Sean Jeffries and the wider team, he’s developed valuable skills in technical design, project management, and collaboration with contractor, SEH French, to bring this vision to life.
Ollie said: “Murrayside has been an incredible development opportunity. The support from Sean and Concertus has been invaluable, giving me hands-on experience that will benefit future projects.
“Seeing construction in action is completely different from designing on paper – it deepens your understanding of how each element works together.
“As Youth Trustee for the Suffolk FA and Co-Chair of the Suffolk FA Youth Council, I’m passionate about creating safe spaces for young people.
“This project lets me extend that work to directly benefit the local community, which is truly amazing.”
