Weather puts paid to midweek cup ties
THE weather conditions wreaked havoc with this week’s Veo Suffolk Under-18 Midweek Cup ties.
Only two of the scheduled eight second-round ties – both of which were played on Tuesday – went ahead.
AFC Sudbury had a comfortable 5-0 victory over Felixstowe & Walton United, while Needham Market also progressed to the quarter-finals courtesy of a 3-0 win at Bungay Town.
However, the weather then took hold and a combination of waterlogged and frozen pitches cause the remaining ties to be postponed.
Wednesday’s Lowestoft derby between Kirkley & Pakefield and Lowestoft Town was called off and all five of Thursday night’s matches, including holders Haverhill Rovers at home to Stowmarket Town, were also postponed.
New dates will be arranged in due course.
