Red Devils will be put to test in cup

HOLDERS Trimley Red Devils will be put to the test in the Suffolk Senior Cup.

HOLDERS Trimley Red Devils will be put to the test in the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup on Saturday.

Trimley face an away tie at fellow Macron SIL Senior Division side Coplestonians, who currently sit one point and one place below their visitors in the table.

Coplestonians reached the final of the Senior Cup in the 2019-20 season, where they lost 1-0 to Ipswich Wanderers at Humber Doucy Lane, so know what it is like to taste a degree of success in the competition.

Leiston U23s, runners-up twice in the past three seasons, will look to advance to the last eight of this season’s competition at the expense of visitors Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves.

The north of the county is guaranteed good representation in the quarter-finals as Beccles Town host Bungay Town and Mutford & Wrentham entertain Waveney.

Sudbury Sports, who were losing finalists in the 2019-20 Suffolk Junior Cup, will look to make home advantage county on their 3G surface at the MEL Group Stadium as they welcome Whitton United, who lasted lifted the cup in the 2013-14 season.

County cup action continues across four more competitions on Sunday, starting with the second round of the Best Badges Suffolk Sunday Cup, Shield and Trophy competitions in the morning.

Bury Town Bisons lead the way in the fledgling Premier Logos Bury & District Sunday League Premier Division standings. They entertain Ipswich Sunday Football League Premier Division side Borussia Martlesham in the Sunday Cup.

Other east versus west ties include AFC Bergholt versus Godolphin, Fat Cat at home to Thetford Wanderers and Portman Rovers, who host Labas, while west meets east as Moreton Hall Youth Ferals welcome Ipswich Galaxy.

Holders Kitchener Taverners visit Bourne Vale looking to repeat last season’s 3-0 semi-final success en route to winning the competition. Bourne Vale (yellow & black shirts) are pictured above in action versus Kitchener Taverners (red shirts) in last season’s semi-final meeting.

In the Sunday Shield Taverners will look to put the disappointment of their 4-0 semi-final loss to Bury Bowl behind them as they take on AFC Dragonfly of the BDSL.

Stowupland Falcons, who top Division Two of the BDSL, take on Moreton Hall Youth 96, currently fourth in the table, with both sides having lost just one of eight league games between them.

Of the four sides to reach the semi-finals of last season’s Sunday Trophy, only Barton Mills are involved in this season’s second round when they host Occold.

Bury Pot Black, who found the net eleven times in their first round tie, entertain Ixworth.

The MH Goals Suffolk Women’s Cup starts on Sunday afternoon when six first-round ties are scheduled.

Needham Market, the 2022-23 winners and last season’s runners-up, travel to Bury Town Community.

Bungay Town, who like Needham Market lost away from home in the Third Qualifying Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup last Sunday, take on Bacton United 89.

Stowupland Falcons, last season’s losing finalists, welcome Ipswich Valley Rangers, while Woodbridge Town, who progressed to the quarter-finals before being beaten by eventual winners AFC Sudbury, host Kesgrave Kestrels.
