County cup action returns after break
COUNTY cup action returns with four ties in four different competitions this weekend.
All four matches were scheduled to have been played before Christmas but were postponed.
Exning United, who are currently sixth in Division 1B of the Cambridgeshire County League, host Beccles Caxton in the Parkers Pitches Suffolk Junior Cup Third Round on Saturday.
Beccles Caxton have won 10 of their 12 matches to date in Fosters Solicitors Anglian Combination Division Two and are third in the table. Beccles Caxton (green & white striped shirts) are pictured above in action versus Martham (blue shirts) earlier this season.
In the third round of the McDonald’s Suffolk Primary Cup the one outstanding tie to be played sees Hundon Reserves host Ipswich Exiles.
Hundon Reserves are yet to win a league game in eight attempts and are bottom of Cambridgeshire County League Division 3A but beat Sporting 87 ‘A’ 6-5 on penalties following a 2-2 draw to progress through round two after receiving a first-round bye.
Ipswich Exiles have so far won 10 and lost just one of their 11 fixtures in Division Four of the Gateway 14 SIL and, of course, were losing semi-finalists in this competition last season.
The following day there is one second-round match in both the Best Badges Suffolk Veterans’ Cup and Shield competitions.
In the Veterans’ Cup Kedington host Mildenhall Town in a West Suffolk derby, while Ransomes Sports Reserves will travel up the east coast to face Waveney in the Veterans’ Shield.
