Lotachi planning to make family proud

SUFFOLK schoolgirl Lotachi has been selected for the England U15 Schoolgirls’ squad.

SUFFOLK schoolgirl Lotachi said she wants to ‘make my family proud’ after receiving an England call-up.

She has been selected for the England U15 Schoolgirls’ squad after representing the South versus the North in the final trial at Thomas Telford School in Shropshire at the weekend.

Lotachi, who lives in Ipswich and attends St Albans Catholic High School, had previously taken part in a South-East Trial at Rectory Park in Middlesex and then in the South-East versus South-West Trial at Winchester College.

The 14-year-old, a striker who can play on the left or right wing, plays for Suffolk County Schools’ FA Girls’ U14s.

She is the first female from Suffolk to earn England selection since Kaci-Jai, who was a student at St Joseph’s College in Ipswich, four years ago.

Lotachi (pictured above) said she was ‘delighted and let out a big sigh of relief’ after hearing she had made the squad.

“I felt I tried my best and worked hard. I found out I was selected when the squad announcement was made on the English Schools’ FA Instagram page.

“My mum then received an email from the U15 Girls’ International Programmes Co-ordination,” she added.

Lotcachi, who plays for Ipswich Town Foundation U14 Girls and Coplestonians U15 Girls, said of her England call-up: “It will be such a great honour! I just want to make my family proud.”

She said she will travel to St George’s Park (SGP) for a preparatory training camp from Wednesday, February 19th until Saturday, February 22nd.

Lotachi said: “During the camp, we'll have two friendly fixtures with the Independent Schools’ FA at SGP and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“In April, we'll then play Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Scotland in the SAFIB Bob Docherty Tournament.”

Suffolk Schools’ Manager Warren Lewis Claxton, who put Lotachi forward to attend the trials, said: “We are delighted to see Lolo get selected, a great achievement for her and her family as well as the county!

“She is a great young talent, a dynamic forward with lots of ability and potential for growth and I hope she can enjoy the opportunity with ESFA.”
