Safe Eyewear Fund
SUFFOLK FA are once again running the Safe Eyewear Fund for the 2024-25 season.
Originally launched as the Safe Youth Eyewear Fund for the 2020-21 campaign, the fund has been broadened to also include adult players.
Wearing everyday glasses whilst playing risks injury to either the player or other participants. Within the Laws of the Game, match officials can prevent players wearing glasses from playing if the participants’ glasses are deemed unsafe.
Suffolk FA Chief Executive Richard Neal said: “Having the correct, safe eyewear is important for those playing football in Suffolk.
“We know of a number of instances where players have been prevented from playing due to their eyewear being deemed unsafe. And purchasing specialist sports eyewear can be expensive. This fund is being introduced to ensure players experience no barriers to playing the game, and complements support which a number of Suffolk leagues also offer."
Clubs will submit an application on behalf of players. Full eligibility criteria and details of how to apply are contained in the documents below.
