THE Suffolk FA Walking Football Cup returns next month with a new twist.

The competition, which is for players aged 50 plus, is taking place on Saturday, May 12th at Goals Soccer Centre in Ipswich from 1pm.

This season’s event sees a social festival running in tandem with the Suffolk FA Walking Football Cup 2018.

Suffolk FA Senior Football Development Officer Darren Scoulding explained: “Feedback from our Walking Football community was that some players preferred a festival-style competition, rather than the more competitive Walking Football Cup environment.

“Keen to provide an event for all, we are going to hold both events on the same day at the same time.

“Teams are entering from across the breadth of our approved centres, with last season’s winners Beccles Town coming back to defend their crown.

Scoulding continued: “We have over 250 players currently turning out each week across our centres in the county, with this being an important area of the County FA’s strategy that we are looking to develop.”
