Swan handed home tie in Sunday Shield
HOLBROOK Swan, the 2016 losing finalists, will have home advantage in the third round of this season’s Anglian Radio Kids’ Trust Suffolk Sunday Shield.
Mellis won a penalty shoot-out 4-2 following a 1-1 draw against Holbrook Swan in the final that season. Holbrook Swan (yellow shirts) are pictured on the attack against Mellis (red shirts) during that final at Stowmarket Town FC.
Holbrook Swan, who needed a 3-0 penalty shoot-out win to progress against Great Blakenham Chequers after a 3-3 draw in the first round this season, were 4-1 winners at Waveney in round two.
Now they will entertain Sizewell Argyle, 4-0 victors over Bucklesham in the second round, in the last 16 of this season’s competition.
Lowestoft-based Fusilier, who won 13-2 at Carlton Colville Town in the first round before a walkover win against Beck Row in the last round, will be at home to Ipswich side Taverners.
Amboed United were the big winners – 10-2 against Laxfield United – in round two last Sunday and they will be at home again, this time versus Ixworth Pykkerell.
Wetherden, who put out Pauls 10-9 on penalties following a 3-3 draw, will travel to Elmsett United in the third round.
