WEEKEND county cup action returns for the 2018-19 season with matches across four competitions on Saturday and Sunday.

There are two first round ties on Saturday in the Suffolk Junior Cup – the majority of the matches take place next Saturday – with one in the north and the other in the east of the county.

In Lowestoft, First & Last entertain Kirkley & Pakefield Under-23 while near Woodbridge, Ufford Sports are at home to Kirton Athletic.

First & Last lost on penalties in last season’s first round while Ufford Sport went through on spot kicks.

The first rounds of three Sunday country cup competitions organised by Suffolk FA also start this weekend.

There are tour ties scheduled in the Suffolk Sunday Cup – the competition for the highest-ranked Sunday sides in the county.

Barrow will be bidding to cause a major upset when they entertain fellow Bury & District Sunday League side Gym United, who last season reached the final of the national FA Sunday Cup.

Gym United have already won both their Division One matches this season, while their hosts have been beaten in both their opening games.

Seven matches are due to take place in the first round of the Anglian Radio Kids' Trust Suffolk Sunday Shield.

Great Blakenham Chequers travel to Holbrook Swan, who were the 2016 losing finalists, and Playford make the short trip to Rushmere Lions, who were runners-up the following season.

There are 16 matches in the first round of this season’s Suffolk Sunday Trophy, including last season’s runners-up FC Monarchs’ visit to Gainsborough United.
