THERE were some high-scoring games in the first round of this season’s Total Football Suffolk Junior Cup.

Sporting 87, last season’s losing semi-finalists, won 8-0 away to Suffolk Punch Haverhill, while Hundon were 8-2 winners at home to Stoke by Nayland.

Lowestoft-based First & Last defeated Tacket Street BBOB 7-1, while two teams netted six on the road – Wickham Market won 6-0 at Thurston and Somersham 6-1 at Ipswich Athletic.

AFC Kesgrave, winners of this competition two seasons ago, bowed out at the first hurdle, beaten 3-1 at Barham Athletic.

Seven-times Suffolk Senior Cup winners Grundisburgh, whose 38-year stay in the Senior Division of the SIL ended last season, went down 3-2 at home to Sudbury Sports Academy.

Washam-le-Willows, last season’s winners of the Days Sports Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup, are out of this season’s competition.

They lost 1-0 at home to Beccles Town, who will be joined in round two by last season’s runners-up Stowmarket Town, 8-0 winners at home to Waveney.

The three ties in the first round of the Crown Imperial Girls’ Under-13 Cup saw holders Ipswich Valley Rangers go out 3-2 at Felixstowe & Walton United.

There were also wins for Kesgrave Kestrels and Ipswich Exiles.
