Online Grass Pitch Workshop organised
A GRASS Pitch Workshop is being organised for Suffolk groundsmen next month.
The free workshop, which is part of the Suffolk FA Sports&Turf Grounds Support Programme sponsored by British Sugar, is being organised in conjunction with the Grounds Management Association.
It will be taking place on Thursday, February 11th 2021 from 6pm-7.30pm via Microsoft Teams.
The session will provide support Suffolk’s groundsmen to provide practical advice to keep their pitches ticking over during this challenging season.
The evening will cover various aspects of successful pitch maintenance and the avenues of support and funding available to clubs, with emphasis on the following topics:
- Importance of choosing correct grass seeds, fertilisers, pests & diseases chemical
- Available funding and support from partners
- PitchPower – usage guide & user Issues
- Why do we need Top dressing?
- Practical tools to keep pitches ticking over
The event will be delivered by Phil Jeggo (Regional Pitch Advisor, Grounds Management Association), Jodie Allard (Football Development Manager, Suffolk FA), Andy Spetch (National TOPSOIL Manager, British Sugar plc) and special guest Sally Jarrett (Collier Turf-Care).
Phil Jeggo said: “The aim of this latest Webinar is to have a closer look at PitchPower and how to go about using this platform and answer any user issues that may have been experienced for those of you that have already used it.
“We will take a more in-depth look this time around into choosing the right materials for you pitches and what benefits these will bring in improving your playing surfaces and aim to pass on practical tips for ongoing maintenance and what works may be carried out to provide a fit for play surface, or keep a pitch ticking over, particularly as nearly all play is current suspended within the county.
“Given the current challenges that we all are experiencing both on and off the pitch it would be good to see as many of you as possible attend our latest offering and welcome any questions both prior to and on the evening itself.”
