Primary Cup last eight now known
THE last quarter-finalist in this season’s McDonald’s Suffolk Primary Cup is now known.
Walsham-le-Willows B beat Ipswich Exiles 3-0 in their delayed fourth-round tie on Wednesday night and will now travel to face Leiston A in Saturday’s last-eight tie.
There are also two Reserve sides involved in the quarter-finals – Grundisburgh Reserves travel to Bramford United, while Clare Town Reserves entertain Lowestoft-based FC Whitehorse.
The other tie is also an East versus West affair as Laxfield host Haverhill Town A.
The semi-final draw will be announced via the Suffolk FA website at 11am on Monday.
Sunday sees the semi-finals taking place in four county cup competitions.
Three of the four sides contesting the semi-finals of the Rushmere Golf Club Suffolk Sunday Cup have never previously reached the final, so one new finalist is guaranteed.
Borussia Martlesham, who before lockdown led the Ipswich Sunday Football League, entertain Kitchener Taverners, the side who were second behind them in the Premier Division. Taverners won this competition in the 2017-18 season.
Action is pictured above from that final in which Kitchener Taverners (red shirts) defeated Mellis (blue shirts) 4-1 at Needham Market FC.
The other tie sees AFC Bergholt of the ISFL entertain Moreton Hall Ferals, who are flying the flag for the Bury & District Sunday League.
There are two cross-county ties in the Veo Suffolk Sunday Shield. BDSL Division Two side Eastbury Eagles welcome ISFL Gainsborough United, while Felixstowe-based Hardy, who last season won the Suffolk Sunday Trophy, meet BDSL side Barrow.
It’s the same scenario in the Bluefin Sport Suffolk Sunday Trophy.
Stoke by Clare from Division Three of the BDSL are at home to Ipswich side Chantry Phoenix, while Wamil Wasps of BDSL Division Three host Rushmere & Diamonds Reserves, who led ISFL Division Three prior to the country going into lockdown last December due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Barham Athletic have a big task on their hands in the Best Badges Suffolk Veterans Cup.
Whitton United, winners in each of the last two seasons, make the short trip to Barham for Sunday afternoon’s semi-final.
Woodbridge Town have home advantage against old adversaries Bury Town in the other tie.
