TWO former recent winners tumbled out of this season’s Parkers Pitches Suffolk Junior Cup on Saturday.

AFC Kesgrave, who lifted the cup in the 2017-18 season, shared six goals with Tattingstone United, before bowing out 4-3 in the penalty shoot-out.

Bacton United, winners in the 2016-17, went down 3-0 at Melton United.

However, holders Stowupland Falcons had no such qualms, defeating Exning United 8-2.

Cavendish’s Ross Martin (partly hidden by Hundon defender Sean Finn) volleys home his side’s fourth goal in their 7-1 victory on Saturday.

The draw for the third round of the competition will be announced at 3pm on Monday afternoon.

Long Melford Reserves fought back from two goals down to win 4-2 at Bildeston Reserves in one of three ties to take place on Saturday in the Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup.

The other two ties resulted in home wins for Ipswich Vale Exiles Reserves and Walsham-le-Willow Reserves against Whitton United Reserves and Claydon Reserves respectively.

Gainsborough United, last season’s runners-up, now know that they will travel to Moreton Hall 96 in the quarter-finals of the Veo Suffolk Sunday Shield in February.

That follows Moreton Hall 96s 4-2 victory over Cockfield in the outstanding second-round tie on Sunday morning.

The first of this week’s CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup first-round matches is on Wednesday night as Leiston Reserves entertain Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves. Leiston's first team are hosting a Buildbase FA Trophy First Round Proper tie against Harrow Borough on Saturday. Thirteen of the other 15 ties in the Senior Cup are scheduled for Saturday.

Thursday night sees the one remaining first-round match – Kirkley & Pakefield v Sporting 87 – and seven second-round ties in the Suffolk Boys’ Under-18 Midweek Cup taking place.

Both AFC Sudbury and Brantham Athletic, who were knocked out of the First Round Proper last week after good runs in the FA Youth Cup, have home ties – against Mildenhall Town and Needham Market respectively.
