Cup final officials are celebrated
MATCH officials were recognised at a Suffolk FA County Cup Final Officials 2021-22 Celebration Evening.
Around 50 officials who have been selected for this season’s county cup finals attended the event, which was held at Henley Community Centre, just outside Ipswich, on Monday evening.
Bobby Madley, who currently referees in the English Football League, spoke to the assembled officials about ‘Refereeing the big occasion’.
The 36-year-old, who hails from Wakefield in West Yorkshire, said he started refereeing in 2001 at the age of 16, and told how he then went on to referee his own county's senior cup final.
Lowestoft-based official Callum Walchester, who is a Step 2 referee, started the evening off with a ‘Getting to know your team’ session.
