Lakenheath closing in on first cup final
LAKENHEATH Reserves are one win from a first Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup Final appearance.
They won 5-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Ipswich side Coplestonians in Saturday’s quarter-final tie to reach the final four of this season’s competition. Ben Stucky of Lakenheath Reserves is pictured above scoring the decisive penalty.
Also through are Stowmarket Town Reserves, winners of the competition in 2016-17, who defeated near-neighbours Old Newton United Reserves 4-1 away on Saturday.
The remaining two ties are scheduled to take place this week – Walsham-le-Willows Reserves welcome Ipswich Vale Exiles Reserves on Tuesday and Long Melford Reserves host Framlingham Town Reserves on Wednesday.
The semi-final draw will be broadcast on the Non-League Hour on BBC Radio Suffolk on Thursday night from 8.30pm onwards.
Four matches in the Turners Hyundai Suffolk Premier Cup Second Round are also taking place on Tuesday evening.
These are all re-arranged fixtures after heavy rain caused the original ties to be postponed a fortnight ago.
The quarter-final draw will also be broadcast on BBC Radio Suffolk from 8.30pm onwards on Thursday evening.
