Late drama in both Junior Cup semis

THERE was late drama in both semi-finals of the Parkers Pitches Suffolk Junior Cup.

Fosters Solicitors Anglian Combination side Mutford & Wrentham will face AFC Kesgrave of Macron SIL Division Two in the final on a date to be arranged.

Mutford & Wrentham trailed Thurston 3-0 after just 25 minutes in their semi-final at Framlingham Town FC on Friday evening.

The North Suffolk side pulled one back before the break and added two more to restore parity with ten minutes remaining, before netting an 88th minute winner.

The result means that Mutford & Wrentham will become the first side to appear in three successive Suffolk Junior Cup Finals since Tuddenham Rovers achieved the feat at the turn of the century.

AFC Kesgrave scored a 90th minute winner against fellow SIL Division One side Cockfield United at Debenham Leisure Centre on Saturday afternoon to seal their place in the final.

AFC Kesgrave had taken an early lead, but Cockfield United equalised on the half-hour and that was the way it stayed until the 2017-18 winners scored that late goal.

Beccles Town Reserves now know that they will meet Hadleigh United Reserves in the Portable Space Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup Final.

Hadleigh United Reserves overcame Ransomes Sports Reserves 4-1 in their semi-final tie at Old Newton Utd FC on Saturday afternoon.

Leiston FC will host the final on Friday, May 5th, kick-off 7.45pm.
