Experiences shared at Youth Conference
SUFFOLK club and league officials learnt about Disability and Inclusion during an engaging and insightful workshop.
Disability and Inclusion was the theme of the annual Suffolk FA Youth Conference which was held at Ufford Park, near Woodbridge on Tuesday evening for the first time since Covid.
Jonathan Coles, The FA National Development Officer (Disability Pathway) led the evening and delivered a workshop on disability football, how the participants can get involved and the different pathways in this area of the game.
Lee Smith and Jenni Prior from Wot’s Up Football Club and Alex and Sharon Wilson from Lavenham All Stars shared information on their journeys and how they have created successful teams in disability football.
Suffolk FA Football Development Officer (Retention) James Morley, who organised the event, said: “It was great to be able to organise this event and be able to shine a light on disability football to people who may not have been involved in this area of the game, but also to enable those who are involved to share their experiences and knowledge with everyone.
“Thank you to Jonathan Coles for coming down and leading on an engaging and insightful workshop. Also, to Lee, Jenni, Alex and Sharon for sharing their experiences with the room which was really powerful to hear.
“We hope this evening can provide inspiration to the clubs and leagues to look at getting involved in disability football. Myself, Kirsty Smith, who leads on disability football in Suffolk, and the rest of the team would love to support our clubs and leagues if they wanted to get more involved and help grow this area of the game.”
