'Icing on the cake' for Woolverstone
HAVING the home changing room for their Parkers Pitches Suffolk Junior Cup Final at Portman Road will be the ‘icing on the cake’ for Woolverstone United.
The six clubs competing in this year’s three county cup finals at Portman Road, home of Ipswich Town FC, each sent two representatives to an orientation evening.
Ipswich Town hosted the event along with Suffolk FA officials on Monday so that the clubs competing in this season’s finals could familiarise themselves with plans for their big night.
The Parkers Pitches Suffolk Junior Cup, MH Goals Suffolk Women’s Cup and CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup Finals will be the first county cup finals at Portman Road since the 2018-19 season.
Club officials were shown the changing rooms, taken out to the side of the pitch and into the Sir Bobby Robson Suite.

Clive Catchpole, manager of Woolverstone United, said having the home changing room was the ‘icing on the cake’ for the club, who will be playing in their first-ever Suffolk Junior Cup Final.
He said: “It will be a fantastic experience for the lads to play here.
“We have a few Ipswich Town fans in our squad, and I used to come and watch Ipswich play throughout the 1980s, before I started coaching Youth football.
“It is great to see the club doing so well and the town buzzing again.
“It will be the first time for five years that county cup finals have been held here and we are very fortunate to be one of the first two teams to use the facilities.
“To get the home changing room for the final is the icing on the cake.”
Representatives from each of the six finalists are pictured besides the Portman Road pitch during Monday’s orientation evening.
