Seasiders progress In cup on penalties
FELIXSTOWE & Walton United progressed on penalties in the Veo Suffolk U18 Midweek Cup.
Goalkeeper Zac Tuvey saved two penalties and then scored the fourth as the Seasiders defeated Leiston 4-1 following a 1-1 draw in their first-round tie at the Martello Ground on Thursday evening.
The three other matches to go ahead on Thursday night were all decided without the need to go to penalties.
Cornard United were the biggest winners, beating Beccles Town 8-0, while there were also wins for Hadleigh United, Kirkley & Pakefield and Walsham-le-Willows.
Ipswich Town withdrew from the competition as they were unable to field a side at Stowmarket Town.
That means six sides – Lakenheath were 4-0 winners at home to Sporting 87 on Tuesday – have now booked their place in the draw for the second round, which will be announced next week.
The Haverhill Borough versus Needham Market and Woodbridge Town versus AFC Sudbury matches are scheduled for next Thursday.
There was one other midweek county cup match in which Hadleigh United Reserves defeated Debenham LC Reserves 2-1 to become the first side through to the third round of this season’s Portable Space Suffolk Senior Reserve Cup.
