Mutford reach last eight of Senior Cup
MUTFORD & Wrentham are enjoying their first season competing in the CNet Training Suffolk Senior Cup.
The Fosters Solicitors Anglian Combination Division One side defeated Waveney, who are currently bottom of the Premier Division, 5-2 in the second round on Saturday to reach the quarter-finals.
Bungay Town edged past fellow Premier Division side Beccles Town 1-0 while last season’s runners-up Leiston U23s won by the odd goal in five versus Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves.
There were three close matches in the three all-Macron SIL Senior Division ties.
Holders Trimley Red Devils won 2-1 at Coplestonians, Haughley United came out on top 4-3 in their local derby at Stowupland Falcons and Tattingstone United won 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw with Halesworth Town.

The other two sides who complete this season’s quarter-final line-up are Whitton United, who played in four successive finals, winning three, between 2010-11 and 2013-14, and Henley Athletic.
Both teams had impressive away wins on Saturday – Henley Athletic beating Brandon Town 7-2 and Whitton United seeing off Essex & Suffolk Border League Premier Division side Sudbury Sports 3-0.
The quarter-final draw will be announced later this week.
There were 46 goals in just six first-round matches on Sunday in this season’s MH Goals Suffolk Women’s Cup.
There were big wins for Bungay Town, Needham Market, last season’s runners-up Stowupland Falcons and Woodbridge Town.
Halesworth Town were 2-0 winners at Kirkley & Pakefield, while Beccles Town beat Capel Plough 4-3 on penalties after they had shared four goals.
The second-round draw will be announced later this week.

Moreton Hall Youth Ferals, last season’s Best Badges Suffolk Sunday Cup losing finalists, required a penalty shoot-out to progress through to the last eight of this season’s competition, winning 8-7 on spot kicks after a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Galaxy.
Holders Kitchener Taverners had a smooth passage past Bourne Vale United, winning 9-0, a scoreline matched by Bedfield versus Bardwell Sports, while Godolphin put seven past AFC Bergholt.
The goals were flying in across the eight ties in round two of the Best Badges Suffolk Sunday Shield – 47 of them in total – and a further 102 in 16 ties in the second round of the Best Badges Sunday Trophy!
The quarter-final draws for the Sunday Cup and Sunday Shield and the third round of the Sunday Trophy will be announced later this week.
There is only one midweek county cup match this week as Haverhill Borough entertain Needham Market in the first round of the Veo Suffolk U18 Midweek Cup on Thursday. The tie between Woodbridge Town and AFC Sudbury, originally scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed until Thursday, November 7th.
